Jacksonville, the largest city in the state of Florida offers an unique experience. The city is cosmopolitan in every aspect but it offers much more than just exciting urban vacations. It is situated in the First Coast region of northeast Florida which is famous for its beautiful landscape marked by lush forests, spectacular mineral springs and miles of breathtaking beaches giving the city an unique character, while numerous fine museums, a wealth of natural and man-made attractions, beautiful beaches and a countless choice of outdoor activities within the city make Jacksonville a perfect getaway for everyone.

Downtown Jacksonville is dominated by an impressive skyline with the Bank of America, Modis Building and Riverplace Tower as the most prominent skyscrapers. But the main attraction of the Downtown Jacksonville is definitely the Friendship Park which is home to the spectacular Friendship Fountain. The latter is the city's most visited attraction by both the locals and tourists. The fountain designed by Taylor Hardwick is holding 500,000 gallons of water and is one of the largest fountains in the world. Downtown Jacksonville is also home to the world-famous Jacksonville Landing, a complex of shops and waterfront eatery's which is also the main location of numerous festivals and public events. Sports fans can catch the Jacksonville Jaguars playing in the EverBank Field stadium which is located in Downtown Jacksonville as well.

In Downtown Jacksonville, you can also find the Hemming Plaza and the beautiful St. James Building which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors interested in historic attractions will also like the Riverside district which is home to the "Points" and an array of historic buildings. Adjacent to the Riverside is Avondale, another historic district featuring a number of prominent historic buildings. Worth visiting is also the Fort Caroline National Memorial, a reconstruction of a fort built in the 1560's which is located in the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve. Near the mouth of the St. Johns River you can find the Yellow Bluff Fort Historic State Park, a fortified camp that was build during the Civil War. Other interesting historical sites and buildings in Jacksonville include the Old Morocco Temple Building, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Catherine Street Fire Station, Henry John Klutho House, Napoleon Bonaparte Broward House, Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine and Epping Forest.

Nature lovers will enjoy the Little Talbot Island State Park about 17 miles northeast of Jacksonville. It offers an unique opportunity to observe wildlife as well as to enjoy the natural beauty. Nearby is the Big Talbot State Park which is worth visiting as well.

Jacksonville is an attraction itself but it is the Atlantic Ocean that gives the city an extra charm and makes it ideal place for visitors who want to have it all – lots to see, the sun and gentle breeze of the Atlantic Ocean. The city has miles of beautiful beaches where you can truly relax or enjoy the water sports without the crowds you will find on southern Florida beaches.
