Buffalo, NY

Buffalo, located on the eastern shore of Lake Erie is the second largest city in the state of New York and economic center of the Western New York region. The city, nicknamed "The Queen City" and "The City of Good Neighbors" is renowned as one of the most hospitable cities in the United States but it is also famous for its fine art galleries, a large number of prominent historic sites and landmarks, beautiful landscape and spectacular architecture as well as its close proximity to one of the world's most impressive natural wonders, Niagara Falls.

Buffalo's architecture is considered one of the finest in the United States, while about 80 sites are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Both architecture and history buffs will be delighted by the architectural masterpieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries such as the Prudential Building (previously known as the Guaranty Building), one of the first steel-supported buildings in the world. It was designed by the father of modernism Louis Sullivan and was one of the very first skyscrapers in the world when built in 1895. Other prominent buildings many of which have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places include the H. H. Richardson Complex, Buffalo Central Terminal, Buffalo City Hall, Kleinhans Music Hall, the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, the Darwin D. Martin House Complex (designed by the renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright), Delaware Park-Front Park System, Lafayette High School and many others. Visitors interested in history will also like the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site - the Ansley Wilcox House where Theodore Roosevelt swore in as the 26th President of the United States after assassination of William McKinley on September 14, 1901.

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is one of the city's most visited art galleries both due to its impressive collection and architecture. The Art Gallery designed by local architect Edward Brodhead Green is one of the nation's oldest arts institutions and was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Albright-Knox Art Gallery houses an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art works including the works of some of the finest artists in history such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Joan Miro, Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and many others. Visitors interested in arts will also like the Burchfield-Penney Art Center displaying more than 100 works by Charles Burchfield.

Visitors interested in natural attractions and outdoor activities will enjoy the Tifft Nature Preserve offering opportunity to observe the local wildlife in natural habitat. Worth visiting is also the Buffalo Zoo which is one of the nation's oldest zoos and houses animals from all over the world. Buffalo truly offers something for everyone but it would be a sin not to take advantage of the city's close proximity to the spectacular Niagara Falls. One of the world's greatest natural wonders and an absolute must-see is only 21 miles from the city which is about 30 minutes by car.

We will continue to update this site to add the best, top rated and most popular Restaurants, Spas, Steakhouses, Attractions, Shopping, Nightlife, Bars and more in Buffalo New York.
