Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico or the “Land of Enchantment” referring to its breathtaking beauty and rich history. As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Albuquerque reflects its rich cultural and historical heritage at every step. Whereas the Old Town Albuquerque reveals the Spanish influence, the modern skyline set against the majestic Sandia Mountains makes the city a vibrant desert metropolis home to an array of attractions which truly offer something for everyone.

Albuquerque is best known as the “Hot Air Balloon Capital of the World”. Each year in October, the sky of Albuquerque is covered by countless colorful hot air balloons offering great opportunity to view the city and the Sandia Mountain from the bird's perspective. If not visiting the city during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta you can still have a spectacular view of the cityscape and the surroundings from the top of Sandia Crest at its highest point of 10,678 feet (3,255 meters) which can be reached by the famous Sandia Peak Tramway, the longest passenger aerial tramway in the world.

Visitors of Albuquerque who are interested in history will enjoy in wealth of historical treasures the city has to offer. The Old Town Albuquerque is a beautifully preserved historic district which dates back to 1706 when the city was founded by the Spanish. It comprises ten block of historic adobe buildings in beautiful Spanish colonial style many of which have been converted into shop boutiques and restaurants. There you will also find the oldest church in the city, San Felipe de Neri Church built at the end of the 18th century as well as the Albuquerque Museum where you can learn more about the city's history, and see conquistador armor and many other artifacts from the time of the colonial period. Nearby the Albuquerque Museum is the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center which includes a museum of history and artifacts of the Pueblo Indian Culture. Worth visiting are also the KiMo Theatre and Sunshine Building both added to the National Register of Historic Places. But the main attraction of Albuquerque is probably the Petroglyph National Monument which besides thousands of carvings by the Pueblo peoples and the early Spanish settlers also features five volcanic cones and variety of other natural attractions. Not far from Albuquerque is the Coronado State Monument, ruins of Kuaua pueblo which was abandoned at the end of 16th century.

Albuquerque is an ideal vacation destination for history buffs but the city offers much more than splendid historical monuments. In the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science you can learn more about the birth of the Universe and the Earth, take a journey to the time of the dinosaurs, discover the New Mexico in the Ice Age and travel into an active volcano. Other sites of interest include the Albuquerque Aquarium, the American International Rattlesnake Museum, Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Rio Grande Zoo and Cliff's Amusement Park which are ideal for families and children.

We will continue to update this site to add the best, top rated and most popular Restaurants, Spas, Steakhouses, Attractions, Shopping, Nightlife, Bars and more in Albuquerque New Mexico.
